“Every day is an adventure at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo.” But when a day also has a Halloween-centric theme, that day becomes an extra special adventure.

The Wild Zoo Halloween, taking place at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo on successive weekends of October 12-14, October 19-21, and October 26-28, is billed as a “merry not scary” event aimed primarily at younger children. Kids and their families are encouraged to traverse the paths of the zoo in order to catch a glimpse of some of their favorite animals while wearing this year’s choice of costumes.

Whether you choose to be a super hero, some type of creepy monster, a football player, a fireman, or something completely different, the “treat trails” at the zoo offer an opportunity to pick up some delicious goodies from any or all of several treat stations throughout the zoo, pick a mini pumpkin to take home, and take part in several other kid friendly activities. Each day also features a special and unique activity that may include free train rides, free carousel rides, animal enrichment activities, or the very special Pumpkin Stomp and Chomp, which, we assure you, is the most fun you can have with a pumpkin.

Some of the animals will make the pumpkin a meal and some will just make a mess, but all of them will provide attendees an educational and amusing opportunity to see them using their natural instincts and displaying natural behaviors.
