With its unique jazz sound, the Glenn Miller Orchestra has pleased audiences for more than eight decades and is considered to be one of the greatest bands of all time. It is also one of most sought after and popular big bands in the world today. It’s coming to our area with an appearance at the historic Embassy Theatre in Fort Wayne on August 6.

Glenn Miller himself said, “A band ought to have a sound all of its own. It ought to have personality.” Over the years, the Glenn Miller Orchestra have lived by that quote, performing many of the classics of the golden era of big band including “Moonlight Serenade,” “Tuxedo Junction,” “Chattanooga Choo Choo,” and, of course, “Pennsylvania 6-5000.” All in all, this band had 69 Top 10 hits, including 16 Number 1 songs.

Formed in 1938, the band still performs an average of 300 dates per year all around the world. Now composed of eighteen musicians and singers who truly love the music they play, the Glenn Miller Orchestra continue to keep the music of their founder alive with an energetic and exciting live show that is sure to please not only fans of jazz and swing but also the incurable romantics who just want to step back in time, if only for a couple of hours on one magical night in August.
