There are a lot of tribute bands on the touring circuit today and most do a fine job of replicating the concert experience once solely owned by the original artists.

Leonid & Friends not only do that, but they offer something unique as well while they celebrate 50 years of music by the band Chicago.

Leonid & Friends, a social media sensation that have never actually seen Chicago perform live, come to the Foellinger Theatre on July 11.

Chicago has never toured Russia, so the members of Leonid & Friends have not witnessed the iconic act in person, but that hasn’t hampered their ability to replicate the band’s complex arrangements amazingly note for note. Countless hours were spent transcribing each song from the original recordings and online videos and audiences are now seeing the results.

Led by 60-year-old multi-instrumentalist Leonid Vorobyev, the band consists of members from Moscow and Kiev, yet captures the spirit, musicality, and fire of Chicago. They have become one of the most sought-after tribute bands on tour. They even caught the attention of the original Chicago, who posted a video of Leonid & Friends on their website.

A hot summer night and 50 years worth of tunes to choose from are sure to make this a band worth catching as they rise up the tribute band hierarchy.
