Her four-Whammy night was just the culmination of what was a very busy year for Sunny Taylor. A fixture on the Fort Wayne music scene for over 10 years, since she was but a teenager, Taylor has gone nearly that long between CD releases. She never vanished, playing around town regularly through the years, but her personal life – which came to include husband Jason Berry and two small girls – demanded more of her attention.

In 2007, both her family and her CD catalog grew. Her summer release, Lock the Door and Leave, helped earn her Whammys for Best Local CD Release/Non-Rock, Best Christian Music Performer, Best Singer-Songwriter and Best Live Performer/Solo. While the CD featured the Sunny Taylor Band, she continues to perform on her own for her most part, and audiences continued to be drawn to her wherever she plays.

Of course, in recent months she has never been truly alone. Her third daughter is due in March, leaving Taylor a bit wobbly on her feet as she accepted her multiple awards.

“I about fell off the stage – my center of gravity is a little off these days. Mostly, I want to thank Mike Conley for not winning singer-songwriter this year so I could!”
