Winners

What's new with Doc West, the winner of the Favorite Radio Personality Whammy award? "Three words: The resurrection of Rock 104," said West. Forgive his arithmetic, as he was a little excited over winning his Whammy.

But West's return to the home of Fort Wayne rock 'n roll, a radio station beloved in the hearts rock fans, began a triumph that culminated in winning yet another Whammy.

"The only thing I could do to surpass being back on Rock 104 would be if I were to plop down and give birth to another human being," West said.

But, Doc, how about your Whammy victory? "It's great. I'm always honored just to be nominated. Although I did hope (Whammy Award host) J.J. Fabini would win. He's incredible. He deserves it. He was the only other person who was nominated who is as passionate about music as I am."

You can catch Stone and Doc on Rock 104 Monday through Friday from 6-10 a.m. You will hear a rarity in radio: someone who's as dedicated to music, the fans and his fellow jocks as he is modest. But Doc West has little to be modest about. His Whammy victory proves that. He's the favorite and the best. And because of him and those whom he's taught and inspired, the heart of rock n' roll is still beating in Fort Wayne. (Alex Vagelatos)
