whatzup readers apparently got the point and voted Plow Best New Performer. With Eric Bair on guitar, Jason Bair (yeah, they’re brothers) on drum and Dan Middleton on bass, Wyant’s description fits the way they play - with laconic aggression. Mostly a hard rock cover band playing stuff from bands such as Pantera and Metallica, Plow are beginning to include original songs in their rotation. Together since last summer, the members came to Plow with experience gained in previous bands. The Bair brothers were in Little Green Men, Middleton in Spork and Wyant in Tested on Animals. Wyant got into music listening to Jimi Hendrix records. “I heard his music and thought, I’d like to do some of that stuff,” he said. And that’s what he and the rest of Plow are doing, playing the music they grew up listening to. In addition to playing bass, Middleton is the recording engineer at Digitracks, a recording studio on the north side of Fort Wayne. Wyant said the band plans to make itself a home at the studio, a move that no doubt will allow plenty of time to do what they love to do. Winning the Whammy is icing on a still rising cake. “It’s awesome,” Wyant said. “It’s pretty cool to be recognized by whatzup and all the people that voted for us. Maybe more people will come out and see our shows. We’re always working hard and playing out. It’s good to have our work recognized. (Mark Hunter) |
