Migraines

Jimmy Migraine doesn’t think he and bandmates Eddie Migraine and Davey Migraine, together aptly called, The Migraines, are a punk band. Nonetheless, that’s the category for which this 10-year-old group was nominated and Whammified.

Perhaps because the category Best Punk Performer is new and because classifying music is at times less than simple, The Migraines were a little befuddled about the win.

“I’m stunned,” said the one Migraine who wasn’t wearing a hat. “I honestly thought it was going to go to some other band. But it’s an honor and it’s great. But there are so many great punk bands and not one punk band was on that ballot [except] maybe The Beautys.”

If they had their way, The Migraines would have given the Whammy to Tri State Killing Spree.

“Yeah, put that down. Tri State Killing Spree should have been nominated. Next year the three of us are going to nominate Tri State. They may not be the best punk band but they definitely deserve to be on the ballot.”

So, if The Migraines aren’t a punk band, what are they? Jimmy Migraine, who wore a dashing cowboy hat, has definite, if rambling, thoughts on that.

“We’re a rock band, and Fort Wayne underestimates the validity of rock n’ roll. Rock n’ roll is valid. Punk rock is valid. Wigs are valid. Wearing lipstick is valid. Rock is about playing hard. It’s not about impressing people.”

Right on.
